Have you ever seen the movie called The Purge? The basis of it is all crime is legal for a 24 hour period. You can do whatever you want without going to jail.
Unless whoever you’re trying to harm decides to shoot you. Pesky natural consequences.
I read an article about finding your biggest temptation that followed a similar train of thought.
The question is this, if you can get away with something without facings any repercussions from God, your conscience, the law, or others, what would you do?
Really think about it.
I know my answer, so I can guard against it.
You can put a fence of rules around you to keep it out. For example, a recovering alcoholic has a rule to avoid any place where alcohol is available. Or you don’t browse dating websites if you’re in a relationship.
Only a fool dances into the center of their weakness and expects nothing to happen.
There is hope, though. 1 Corinthians 10:13 says, “No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation, he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.”
- Find your point of weakness.
- Build a fence to keep it out.
- Know that when temptation strikes that you have a way out.
- Look for that way out.
Convicting post. It’s sometimes so much easier to enjoy dancing on that line instead of guarding our spiritual lives and integrity.

I had two people comment on FB about being a vigilante and another about white collar crime.
The latter is in the loan industry…
