America: Born 7-4-1776 Died 4-9-1865

Last week in Pledge Allegiance To A Lie, I said:

Land of the free and home of the brave
Once it may have been
Now it’s nothing but a sin to humanity
Land of the sheep and home of the slave

Now I will get more in depth with that, starting with July 4, 1776, which is now Independence Day or America’s birthday. What I now think is a misconception is that the country is 237 years old, and the government maybe however, the spirit of freedom…did not survive but 89 years. It died April 9, 1865 when the South surrendered in the War of Northern Aggression.

This is not about the War; it is about the principle of freedom. If you add a caveat to freedom then it is no longer a freedom or a Right. It becomes an accepted standard of behavior or a privilege. In the end, I do not care about the reasons behind secession, just the ability to secede. Nothing in the Constitution or Bill of Rights said States were forced into a contract.

Indeed this line in the Declaration of Independence:

“That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.”

This is freedom! Let us look at a paragraph before the above one:

”When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.”

This is secession! If America were truly the Land of the Free then Secession on a personal level or as a State would not be an issue. States would not be indebted to the government for handouts for bloated budgets. If this were the Home Of The Brave then it never would have gotten this far in the first place. Brave maybe against those outside the group but the group (country) is sacrosanct.

No, instead, it is the home of a group of people comfortable with the standards now and you had better be too or the NSA will have a drone tail you. People who are comfortable with losing 30% of a paycheck before they see the first dollar they have earned making a living and then have to pay more taxes at the store. Only a black market is tax-free, even something as simple as a yard sale is a black market. Americans who probably don’t know how many kids and Americans (3) have been murdered overseas due to complacency and apathy. The NSA listening and logging our phone calls and the outrage is…nothing.

“They always do that.”

This is America now? Why would I wish to be associated with this as a whole? As individuals, Americans are generally good people; however so are Mexicans, Europeans, Asians, Africans, and Australians. They see to their families and try to do right by their fellow humans. Therefore, I will deal with them as such, human to human.

Not on a larger scale though, I will no longer pledge allegiance to anything, I will not celebrate a joke of a holiday that is the 4th of July since the country it celebrates died long ago. I will mourn the veterans on Memorial Day who naively believed they were fighting for freedom. They only stopped one while ignoring our own slave masters. Courageous, yes, you do not run to gunfire without either that or some heavy-duty indoctrination. Nevertheless, I will not thank them for my freedom, because I have none in the eyes of Uncle Sam. I have privileges.

I am not an American; I am Ronin, just a man.

Proud To Be An American?

I saw this in a comment on my sister’s Facebook directed toward the country. This made me think, should a spouse stay faithful or leave if their significant other hits them without reason, snoops on them, or keeps them defenseless? What if this same spouse doesn’t let you speak, and lord help you if you air the dirty laundry? What about keeping you locked in a room without anyone being able to see you? Or takes any money you have comes in, blows it and runs up credit card after credit card?

If they won’t change should you stay faithful or leave them?

Now take this and use it as an analogy of America today. America now can kill you with a drone without trial thanks to NDAA and has murdered Americans before. The NSA was busted for snooping on all electronic communications. Would you tolerate a significant other doing that?

All the limitations on firearms, same as keeping your other half helpless. We don’t have unabridged freedom of speech, look at the whistleblowers being pursued, same as a beaten wife telling a friend. That is if you get to even have friends, indefinite detention anyone? Taxes and running up debt in your name is the same as me controlling all money in the house without asking permission and getting credit cards in my wife’s name and running them up.

Guess what, we’re abused spouses. How’s that make you feel about your relationship with the USA? Do you keep your head down and get back in the kitchen where you belong to cater to Uncle Sam’s every whim?

Fuck that. This place has gone to hell considering where it came from, and I hold those who vote the same crooks into office repeatedly in office responsible. I hold the crooks responsible. I hold those who don’t vote out of apathy responsible and lastly…I hold myself responsible. I’ve made a few bad votes myself.

Guess what? I’m doing something about it, I’m engaged in the political sphere, and not falling for the two party farce, what are you doing? Staying in the kitchen or filing for a divorce?

“Marriage Isn’t About Desires of Adults”

I get a newsletter from the Heritage Foundation, a conservative think-tank, and this week I got one concerning the Supreme Court’s taking on Prop. 8 and the Defense Of Marriage Act. I thought to myself that this might be interesting; it also was infuriating to my personal philosophy. Here’s a link here so let’s take a look.

Those pressing the Supreme Court to overturn the federal Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) and California’s Proposition 8 essentially argue that marriage as we’ve always known it is not constitutional. But redefining marriage would make marriage about the desires of adults rather than the well-being of children.

That was the takeaway from a media briefing Tuesday at the National Press Club featuring Heritage’s Ryan T. Anderson, Claremont Institute legal scholar John C. Eastman, and Alliance Defending Freedom attorney Austin R. Nimocks (who is also co-counsel in the Prop 8 case).

“Government is not in the marriage business to regulate citizens’ romantic lives,” Anderson said. “Encouraging marriage is the only way to ensure adults take responsibility for their children.”

And what is DOMA? Regulation.

Redefining marriage to include same-sex relationships would further separate marriage from the reality that every child needs both a mother and a father, Anderson said, and transform the institution into whatever emotional bond the government says it is.

Say what? The damn welfare state and irresponsible heterosexual people are doing a bang up job of screwing up the ‘sanctity of marriage’. Look at Hollywood and the amount of kids on food stamps, government insurance, etc. And you know what? Everyone of them came from a heterosexual relationship. Let’s move on…

 Among the consequences: erosion of religious freedom and growth of the welfare state.

There is nothing “equal” about redefining marriage, Anderson said, a point he also made in a piece this week in The Washington Post. And the Court has held that same-sex marriage is not a fundamental right, said Eastman, author of Heritage’s legal memo on the marriage cases.

Religious freedom? Is someone else’s actions in their life going to come between you and your God? Does your God not realize it’s not your doing? Not very omniscient if it doesn’t. It’s not Biblical? I offer this…

Welfare state? You know what grows that? Democrats do. Republicans do. A supermajority of straight politicians. Excuses. The real growth comes from politicians bribing constituents with ‘free’ money.

This line…”same-sex marriage is not a fundamental right” If it’s not, then neither is heterosexual marriage and in the name of equality all marriages should be annulled or government gets the hell out of it and stays out.

“What is at stake is the constitutional authority of the American people,” Anderson said.

To that I offer this…

The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.

The Tenth Amendment. There is nothing in the Constitution that supports DOMA as legal. However, State’s can define marriage under the 10th, however it’s not right. The Constitution is flawed after all, but I can argue with this point from the Declaration of Independence...”We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

All men and women, straight, bisexual, homosexual, all races and creeds, are created equal free to their Life, Liberty to do what they want without physically harming another and pursuit of happiness, such as marrying whoever they love. Stating that someone has power to limit this flies in the face of what this country was founded on.

What would you do if a majority voted that you couldn’t marry your sweetheart?

Open Carry Got Buried

Yesterday the Open Carry bill died in committee, and I could tell you what happened but Nicholas Horton was there and wrote this post here on it. However I will say that the main thing that affected it was Arkansas State Police Director Witt’s testimony. One quote that stood out is this quote:

We oppose this bill because of officer safety reasons. Often time officers encounter suspects with guns and they have to make split second decisions. Sometimes..those seconds are critical. If a person is allowed to open carry, we feel like that would cause an officer to have to pause to wonder if that person is legally carrying or not and that those critical seconds could cost an officer his life.

This argument is made every time this is brought up. When Oklahoma was debating their Open Carry law the head of their Highway Patrol made the same argument. It passed and guess what, nothing happened. How about the cops worry more about the gun that’s in someone’s hand than the one on the belt. Horton makes excellent counterpoints in his post to the Director’s comments.

In other news, the Faculty Campus Carry bill is on it’s way to the Governor for his signature. He said he’ll sign it, and their isn’t a emergency clause to automatically make it law, so we’ll see.

Arkansas House Bills 1022-1031; Tourists, Paperwork, Government Salaries, Levees, Assaults, Mental Health, Wrecks and Racing

Over halfway through all the House Bills files…so far. If you read the post I reblogged here you’ll understand why I’m focusing on all the minutia of every bill.

  • HB1022 is a law that would simply make a section of highway a tourist attraction. Nothing too disturbing to me.
  • HB1023 streamlines county government paperwork, like tax bills, by giving you the option of going paperless. And the county sheriff or collector can apply the savings from not having to mail it to your tax bill.
  • HB1024 is a bill that you should pay attention too. It passed the Legislature but you need to know the cost of government in Arkansas as far as salaries are concerned. $38,485,197 total. See the bill for the breakdown.
  • HB1025 deals with counties that share levees and who pays for the upkeep. This bill would increase the millage tax on properties in danger of overflow from a broken levee. Does this apply to you?
  • HB1026 would make Aggravated Assault a Class C Felony, which means stronger punishment for those charged if it’s one of the following assaulted: law enforcement officer, firefighter, code enforcement officer, employee of a correctional facility while acting in the scope of his or her duty, A school employee, people older than 60 and younger than 12, A physician, a person certified as an emergency medical services personnel, a licensed or certified health care professional, any other health care provider; or an individual who is incompetent.

Who the law wouldn’t apply to his a cop on the job, or someone acting in defense of themselves or in defense of a third party. That’s comforting. The bill goes on to upgrade the degrees of assault’s punishment level for the above mentioned. My question is why upgrade for those listed and not make it as strong offense to assault people between the ages of 13-59?  Call and ask them, I am.

  •  HB1027 is nothing more than what the title says. Literally. That’s just lazy.
  • HB1028 takes the money spent on government employees salaries subtracted by what was budgeted. Any leftover money goes towards a future cost-of-living raise or for a 27th pay period.
  • HB1029 promotes mental health care for kids in trouble with the law. I want to know if we foot the doctor bill?
  • HB1030 from what I can tell is after you have a wreck then no one will be able to pester you for business that would benefit from the wreck for 60 days.
  • HB1031 makes it easier to build a racetrack in Arkansas.

All Life Is Precious, Not Just Americans Lives

Is the blood of an American innocent worth more than the blood of a Pakistani innocent? Or any other innocent?

People are sympathetic for the parents at Sandy Hook, which is a good thing, but do they realize how many innocent kids and adults have died overseas? Obama’s strategy of drone strikes has killed multiple innocents. The Guardian has an article here on it.

In America when this happens someone’s going to face the consequences. Why different there?

A favored technique is the Double Strike, bomb a place, wait till someone comes to help, bomb it again. How do you know they were guilty? Wouldn’t you see if there were and survivors if it happened here?

Or the bombing of funerals? Who cares, guilty by association, sucks to be you. Would you stand for that here?

We cry over the massacre of kids here, but not the slaughter of kids overseas by a kid in a room at a video game controller in New Mexico, ordered by our Nobel Peace Prize winning President. Twisted priorities.

What Would You Do If Your Kid Wanted to Enlist?

Doing research for the new book last night, I got to a section on who has the ability to declare war. And it reminded me of a question my wife asked earlier yesterday.

“What would you do if one of our kids wanted to join the military?”

Myself, I would question them extensively.

  1. “Why do you want to join?”
  2. “Do you see how the military is currently being used?”
  3. “Will you stand by the Oath you’ll take to defend the Constitution from enemies foreign and domestic?”

Lets take these one at a time. Why join?

‘Fighting for freedom’? We are less free now than before 9/11. Patriot Act‘s library record raids, warrant less wiretapping, FISA warrants you never get to see (how do you know it wasn’t written after the fact), being indefinitely detained by NDAA and molested by the TSA.

You’re not fighting for our freedom, that’s a bad joke.

For the perks, like the military paying for your school and sign up bonuses, etc.? To get out of the town you grew up in? At least that’s an honest answer I can’t shoot down.

How’s the military being used?

It was meant to defend the country, like when Pancho Villa attacked a town in Texas, the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. 9/11.

That’s what it’s for. But  lately it’s not used for that.

Lets just go back 20 years. Desert Storm? To protect Kuwaiti Oilfields aka money. And under Clinton who sent the military out 44 times in his 8 years in office, as “peacekeepers”. Troops went to the Balkans, Somalia (Blackhawk Down), Rwanda, Macedonia, Ecuador, East Timor, Kuwait, Liberia, Albania, Congo, Gabon, Sierra Leone, and Sudan.

Under Bush going after the American trained Osama Bin Laden in Afghanistan and Pakistan, which turned into Nation building. Iraq, which has nothing to do with us, more nation building and getting rid of a former friend. Threatening Iran, who had years ago ran out the American installed Shah of Iran.

Under Obama, Libya, Yemen, still in Iraq and Afghanistan. Maybe Turkey soon. The Congo. Some details here

So if you want to be the world’s cop and used for corporate gain and lining politicians coffers, go for it. Just realize Iraq and Afghanistan is covered with contractors making lots of green off the blood of soldiers. The only legitimate  reason, and still illegal since war wasn’t declared by Congress, was getting Osama. Not building Afghanistan. They do provide food and support to nations around the world, though I’ve argued against foreign aid before. Still not the intent meant for them.

And lastly, will you stand by your word to defend the Constitution from enemies overseas and here?

Have you even read it? And if you have do you realize the government that gives you your orders has violated the document you swore to defend multiple times? If you don’t do anything that makes you a liar. You broke your word. How do you live with that? Do you have the integrity to stand by it?

And if you haven’t read it, and understand it, and take the oath, you’re nothing more than a mercenary working for a check. Not a patriot. How can you defend something you don’t understand?

In today’s current state I would advise against my kids going into the military and if they choose to do so I will make sure they understand what they’re getting into and the ramifications of that decision. Everyone should ask themselves these questions before joining.
