Every Christian should be serving others in some capacity. Are you a spectator or participant? The disciples didn’t only show up on Saturdays to listen to Jesus preach.
They followed him and got on-the-job training every day. Part of that was helping people.
“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” Ephesians 2:10
I know literal heathens who can love on people better than me. This indicates a glitch in my system.
That glitch is overthinking it.
In this case, it’s spur-of-the-moment stuff. There’s a chance I would have bypassed that beat-up guy on the roadside. Good thing that Samaritan came along.
If it’s on a schedule, I am golden. So get it on your schedule. Make ripples of good in people’s lives.
I love it. A long time ago, before I followed Jesus, I learned that altruism is a good tonic.
It pulls us out of our self-centeredness.
Find an area to serve in. Get your time with Jesus, but also get your time working for him. There’s a Kingdom to expand and people to care for.
