No Longer A Mere Human

What is a church? A building. What is the church? A group of special people, the ekklesia, if we use the Greek.

Let’s look at this group, explore who they are, what they do, and how you can join them.

The ekklesia is an organism, the Body of Christ in action on the Earth right now. Jesus is the head. Wherever groups of people that follow Jesus as Lord are there as an outpost of Heaven.

As such, people should see a difference in us compared to the world.

That was an issue in the Corinth group of believers. Paul told them, ‘You are still worldly. I see there is jealousy and quarreling among you; prove to me you are not acting as the world does. Are you not acting like mere humans?’ 1 Cor. 2:3

“Acting like mere humans” caught my attention. We’re no longer only humans. We’re called out; we are hybrid humans–mortal flesh with God indwelling us so we should act like it.

Every believer should live as a citizen of God’s kingdom in whatever situation the King has assigned them (1 Cor. 7:17).

We’re how God’s multifaceted wisdom is made known to the rulers in the spiritual realm. (See the Demons book review) (Eph 3:10-12).

Reflect on these things:

  1. You’re a hybrid of Heaven and Earth, part of Christ on Earth.
  2. This makes you an ambassador of the Kingdom of God. You joined when you turned away from your allegiance to the world and began following Jesus only as Lord and Savior.
  3. What does the above look like in your life?
