Note: this was originally planned for November 4th. After tonight (10/20/19) I decided to move it up and shift my schedule. FirstNLR is pulling out the big guns in a spiritual war on many fronts starting tonight. It seemed appropriate. At the end of the post I’ll give you an opportunity to join us in the fight.
Lately, I’ve been thinking about something C.S Lewis said about Christianity, that it’s a fighting religion.
“For Christianity is a fighting religion. It thinks God has made the world- that space and time, heat and cold, and all the colors and tastes, and all the animals and vegetables are things that God ‘made up out of His head’ as a man makes up a story. But it also thinks that a great many things have gone wrong with the world that God made and that God insists, and insists very loudly, on our putting them right again.” Mere Christianity
It’s not hard to see what’s wrong in the world–racism, human trafficking, cruelty, wars.
I think every Christian probably feels that Jesus is coming back in their lifetime. I usually put it out past my lifetime, but thinking about technology’s growth…well, I’m not so sure.
People are letting themselves have a chip inserted into their hands so they can buy food, and do their everyday business.¹²³ I’m not saying that’s the Mark of the Beast.
“The second beast was given power to give breath to the image of the first beast, so that the image could speak and cause all who refused to worship the image to be killed. It also forced all people, great and small, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads, so that they could not buy or sell unless they had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of its name.” Revelation 13:15-17 NIV
What I will say is it’s preparing the world for it — normalizing the idea of taking a mark or chip so they can survive.
That’s just one area. Another area that has my attention now is spiritual warfare. At the time you read this, our church will be in the middle of a time of fasting and prayer. (Day 2 when this is published)
Some weird things have been going on. Strange and unexplained illnesses and injuries are knocking down church staff and pastors and their families.
In the church family, different people are being attacked. Marriages. Jobs. Their health.
I’m seeing some weird things going on where I work. It’s tense with people. Things that run fine suddenly act up like a gremlin had sabotaged it and disappeared.
The fight is wearing on people.
“For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.” 2 Corinthians 10:3-4
“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.” Ephesian 6:10-18
So I ask this, pray for your local church, and FirstNLR as we all battle against spiritual darkness. We need it.
