Note: This series is written as a first-person narrative in order to present Jesus in the context he walked in with the unknown disciple that narrates presenting my thoughts and sparking more thoughts with his questions. Enjoy.
Now really nervous after Jesus warned us about making someone stumble, we looked at each other. James elbowed John.
Rubbing his side, “Teacher,” said John, “we saw someone driving out demons in your name and we told him to stop because he was not one of us.”
A slight twinkle in his eye, Jesus said, “Do not stop him for no one who does a miracle in my name can in the next moment say anything bad about me, for whoever is not against us is for us. Truly I tell you, anyone who gives you a cup of water in my name because you belong to the Messiah will certainly not lose their reward.”
Anyone could draw water and give it to someone. Hospitality is rewarded, as is faith. It looks like Jesus’ message was spreading.
