The Department of inJustice and the Country’s Cops

In the past week, I came across a story here where in Dayton, Ohio where they’re dropping the grades needed to pass the Policeman‘s Exam. It’s now 58% and 63%. It makes the Fraternal Order of Police and the Dayton NAACP scratch their heads and rightly reason, “that’s stupid.” They have a bunch of cops retiring and have places to fill, but that’s never an excuse to drop the standards. Their is an interesting quote in the story.

The D.O.J. has forced other police departments across the country to lower testing standards, citing once again that not enough black candidates were passing.

The Dayton Firefighter recruit exam is coming up this summer.  The chief said it’s likely the passing score for that test will be lowered as well.

You know, I’m going say it, that’s racist. Lowering testing standards because not enough black candidates are passing! To me that’s the equivalent of saying you’re to stupid to pass this test so we’ll drop bar for you. I happen to believe in equality, and I think a black, yellow, red, brown, and white man or woman can pass anything they put their mind to. Skin color is just pigment, we all are capable of great things, no matter the color. We all have about 3 pounds of gray matter between our ears.

And it saddens me that anyone thinks that they’re stupid because of where they came from. They need to look inside and find their backbone, and ascend. Don’t let ANYONE tell you, that because your _____________, that you can’t do that. That’s insulting.

But the test scorer and dept. maybe racist?
Look here, education and the blood and sweat of a lot of civil rights leaders and follower beat that ignorant idea of superiority by skin color into a dark  hole. It exists, ignorance doesn’t die easily, but it’s limited. Where I work I’m the minority, do I feel inferior? No. Do I feel superior? No. We all do the same job, bleed the same, and I talk to my friends there the same I talk to others. Engage in political debates, where I am definitely a minority, not many pragmatic libertarians in a union plant full of democrats. And at the end of the day, we are all made of equal material, its up to the INDIVIDUAL, to forge themselves and rise above mediocrity.

  1. This is just great. Aside from the racism seen here, pretty soon we’re gonna have a bunch of even more ignorant police. If they keep making it easier to pass, next thing you know your gonna have cops who think they can search your house without a warrant and violate all our right. I personally, have decided to make the life choice of persuing the career choice of being a cop when I am done with high school. The last thing I want is to work with a bunch of ignorant bastards who think they are above the law. When I am a police officer I will not stand for my coworkers being unfair to citizens, and will not be afraid to call out bullshit.
