To My Child

Posted in Family, Life with tags , , on May 31, 2012 by Ronin

Little One,

Did you know that right after we heard about you we had your room decorated in our heads? That your mom gave up her favorite drink, Dr. Pepper for you? Did you know how much your dad was looking forward to watching you experience the world? The curiosity, the wins and the losses.

Watching you play, wondering if you would be the comic book geek that he is. Or your mom wondering if you’d be a girl who can go shopping and play dress up with, and your dad planning on taking you to deer camp before you even turn One. Mom said no by the way.

You also caused even more confusion for your dad, in these times of deadbeat parents. You were so loved before we even saw you and would give anything to see you, so I didn’t understand how anyone can turn away from their kids.

Little One, you were our first and will never be forgotten and always loved, and we’ll grow our little family so you’ll have more to know when they knock on Heaven’s door when the time arrives. Logan and Emma, at least that’s the plan. And maybe a Sam or Faith too.

We love you little one,

Vance and Casey

“Everything Happens For A Reason.”

Have you ever in a time of grief hear that or similar.

“Everything happens for a reason.”

Now on a logical level I know this true, but its not what I need to hear. Not then. And I know it’s because when someone’s friend is breaking down in front of them they don’t really know what to say or do to help. You can’t fix the  past.

That phrase makes me want to drive my fist into someone and say, “That happened for a reason.” That won’t help them feel better. Which is why I’m uncomfortable in situations like that. I’m a fixer, I want to fix the problem, but sometimes you can’t. All you can do is be there for them. An ear to listen to them, or a shoulder to cry on.

I held the tears until I got to the car, and they’ve been sporadic ever since. But I’ll get through it. Probably by writing. Or training.

Little One

Little One we never knew.
A welcome addition to a family of two.
When we heard you were on the way.
We jumped for joy that day.

For being no bigger than a mustard seed.
You had our hearts and all the love you would need.
Went to the doctors and learned all we could.
Read the books the experts said we should.

Went to follow up
Little nervous and not wanting to throw up
In the exam room, all was right
Until the doctor said the baby was gone and gave us a fright

We cry and mourn
The Little One who’ll never be born
My firm belief is when you went away
Up in Heaven is where you went to stay

One day your parents will arrive
Brothers and sisters to be at your side.
Little One we never knew.
A welcome addition to a family of two.

Tax Dodging? Or Running From A Thief?

Posted in Commentary, Current Events, Government, News, Politics with tags , , , , , on May 29, 2012 by Ronin

Have you heard of Eduardo Saverin, one of the founders of Facebook? He committed the unforgivable sin of renouncing his United States citizenship. Read about it here

“Why?” you ask?  Maybe it was to dodge taxes or as I call it, running from a thief. He says that’s not the case, so take that as you will.

Well Chuck Schumer couldn’t stand that so he’s trying to pass the EX-PATRIOT ACT. Here’s an article on it here. So it’s not so much that he’s leaving, it’s just that Schumer can’t get his greedy paws on those millions. While he discounts the fact you have to pay to leave. You have to pay a tax on all your assets when you leave, an exit tax.

But the larger issue is what makes the Federal Government entitled to any of his money, let alone money he makes after he’s left? And taking this to its logical conclusion, when will they  decide to levy the same tax on people wanting to come to this country?

Something to think about…

Changes, Updates and Keeping Up With It All

Been making  some changes on this site, Facebook and the new book. First this site.

Ronin’s Journey

Changed the header, went from a red font to a blue. Is it easier to read?  Removed the poll but the results say my commentary and politics are the favorites. Added a Facebook plug-in to new Ronin/Abyss Press Author Facebook page. More on that below. Also added and subtracted some of my favorite websites to visit.

The New Book

Growls Of A Wolf is now being carefully looked over by volunteers to check my writing. Chris, Amanda, Audrey and my Uncle Mike. They’re helping me bring the best book I can to you. The cover is ready now also.

Facebook

I started a Facebook page for Growls like I did for Howls, but got to thinking, one central Facebook page for all of my projects would be easier. So I created the Ronin/Abyss Press page so I can keep everyone up to date easier.

The Howls From The Wolfpack and the Growls Of A Wolf pages will stay up. For one Howls was a group project and I use it to promote the authors within and other wolves doing their own thing.

And Growls is staying up because it already has quite a few Likes. However, the book project Breakdown won’t have it’s own page. You’ll have to go to the Ronin page. And you can from this site, right side, and above my Twitter Feed.

Big things coming, enjoy the ride. Like the pages please, help me spread the word.
